ANPR INITIATIVE WORKS FOR WESTMINSTER
01 December 2008
Working in conjunction with Westminster City Council, the Metropolitan police and the Public Carriage Office Philips has recently created a special task force of its ANPR vans to combat various forms of driving offences, particularly speeding, illegal parking and the use of unlicensed cabs.
Using a specially chosen strategic location the three-level team mounts an out-of-hours operation from 10pm until 5am on a fortnightly basis, reading registration plates and co-ordinating with the other participants in the scheme to bring the offenders to book.
All Philips operations staff on duty are fully certificated bailiffs and the project is proving so successful that a daytime operation is now being seriously considered.
Approved as a City & Guilds training provider, Philips Training Academy is unique in its scope and reflects Philips long term commitment to providing access to the highest professional standards.
